The U.S is facing a caregiving crisis. More than 40 million people (1 in 6) care for a seriously ill family member and can't take a single day off work to take their family to chemo, or surgery without forgoing their paychecks. No one should have to choose between being by their sick child's bedside and a paycheck.

For families dealing with the grueling impact of a sick child, or caring for an aging parent, a national paid family leave policy must go beyond parental leave and include caregiving. As Republican leaders get to work hashing out the details of these policies, they must put the real needs of working families at the heart of their proposed solutions.

We strongly urge Republican leaders to cover caregiving as a benefit included in the any paid family leave proposal.
