EMAIL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS: PASS NATIONAL PAID FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE

Ritual is a company founded by a mother of three, on the belief that pregnant and postpartum people deserve more. And right now, that means fighting for more than zero days of paid family leave.

As you read this, Members of Congress are debating what to include in the economic recovery package, and what to leave out. The next fews days are the most critical moments in the fight for paid leave--and it’s never been more important to make our voices heard.

Today, 1 in 4 women go back to work just 2 weeks after giving birth, and 1 in 3 Americans lack access to a single day of paid leave to care for themselves or their loved ones. That’s 113 million people, overwhelmingly women, communities of color, and low-wage working families.

President Biden and leaders in Congress have proposed a new paid leave program that would change that, providing up to 12 weeks of parental, caregiving and personal medical leave to all working people. But to pass paid leave for everyone, we have to make sure it’s included in the final package that Congress negotiates.

Paid leave has broad, bi-partisan support from 65% of Americans, and now Congress has the chance to make sure that nobody in the U.S. has to choose between taking care of their health or their family, and keeping their paycheck. But, it will take all of us speaking out loudly to make it happen. Too often, good policies end up on the congressional cutting room floor as a result of compromises and deals.

Your Members of Congress are negotiating the budget package now -- and they will decide whether to include paid leave. This is our best chance to make sure they pass a national paid family and medical leave program.
